Weekly Update (1/16/26)!!!
Hello, Lakeview Families!
This week, we were in the full swing of the second semester, and it was great to see our students learning and enjoying our spirit week with their teachers and peers.
A quick reminder that report cards are coming home today, so be sure to check backpacks and celebrate your child’s hard work and growth.
Please note that there is no school on Monday. We hope everyone enjoys cheering on the Hoosiers Monday evening, and hopefully when we return to school on Tuesday, we’ll be celebrating a national championship team! 🎉❤️🏈
Go Hoosiers!

📢 NEW: Attention Early Learning, Kindergarten Families, and New Lakeview Families-
A Home Language Survey must be completed and returned to school. Miss Sandy, one of our amazing office administrative assistants, will be providing the survey to students who need it. If you see this survey in your child’s backpack, please complete it and return it to school as soon as possible.
📝 NEW: Report Cards Coming Home Today-
Report cards are being sent home today. Please return the envelopes to school, but feel free to keep the contents of the envelope for your records.
Note for Grades 3–6 families: The envelope indicates you should receive ILEARN Checkpoints 1.2 data. This assessment was not administered this year, so it will not be included in your child’s report card. Here is a link to information about our report cards (this was initially shared during after quarter 1)
🎶💻 NEW: STEM Highlight-
This week in STEM, Mrs. Risen’s class explored Computer Science through Music Coding! Students learned how coding can create patterns, rhythms, and sounds as they combined technology and creativity. It was exciting to see problem-solving, collaboration, and musical expression come together in such a fun and engaging way!

🦷 NEW: School Smiles is Coming Back to LAK-
The School Smiles dentist will return to our school on February 20th for dental cleanings. If you missed their first visit, there’s still time to sign your student up for this upcoming visit!
Visit https://schoolsmiles.com/student-signup/ to register today.
A new form is required each school year to remain in the program. If you have already completed a form for the 2025–26 school year, you do not need to sign up again.
School Smiles accepts Medicaid, private insurance, and also offers self-pay rates for families without insurance.

Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026 | 5:30–7:00 p.m.
Enrollment for the 2026–27 school year opens February 2.
🎉 REMINDER: Attendance Incentive- We are excited to introduce a new incentive to celebrate classes with strong attendance! Any class with 98% attendance or higher will be recognized each week on our Daily ROAR and will earn a class non-tangible reward from our Attendance Prize Menu.
Please know that attendance is one of the most important factors in supporting your child’s academic growth and development. The elementary years are especially formative for building strong habits and growing lifelong learners.
Thank you for partnering with us by encouraging your child to come to school each day—we appreciate your support!

🦁 REMINDER: Helping Our Lakeview Lions Show CORE-
As we head into winter break, we ask that families take a few moments to review our school expectations with their child. When we return, we will be revisiting these expectations with all students to ensure a smooth and successful transition back to school.
Over break, consider asking your Lakeview Lion about:
CORE — What does it mean?
CORE Cash — How does it work?
How we show CORE in places like the cafeteria, recess, hallways, and restrooms.
These conversations help reinforce our positive school culture, and we appreciate your continued partnership and support at home!
❄️ REMINDER: Winter Weather & eLearning Preparation
To ensure we remain eligible for eLearning days, students will be bringing their iPads home as part of our standard winter procedure. This allows us to be prepared in the event of weather-related delays or school closures.
1. Important Reminders:
Please keep your child’s iPad in their backpack.
iPads should be used for school purposes only.
Students should access their iPad only if school is closed or during approved remote learning activities.
2. If your child experienced challenges logging on or completing work during previous eLearning days, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher so we can support you moving forward.
3. Please note: If we experience a winter with frequent inclement weather, eLearning may be used more often. Teachers will be prepared to provide instruction and collect learning data to ensure continued student progress.
❄️REMINDER: eLearning troubleshooting-
The following message was originally shared by the Central Office in October. We are reposting it here for your reference to keep everyone informed about winter weather procedures and eLearning expectations.
