I hope you and your family have enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with rest, fun, and time together. As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, I want to extend a warm welcome to our returning families and those joining the Lakeview community for the first time.
We are excited to welcome our students back (1 in week) for another year of learning, growth, and partnership. This year, we are also thrilled to welcome several new staff members to the Lakeview family! Be on the lookout for a special staff introduction video coming soon to help your family get to know the faces who will be supporting our students this year.
As a STEM-Certified School, we remain committed to providing engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. Our beautiful campus continues to provide unique opportunities for students to connect learning with the outdoors as they explore, discover, and grow.

About the Principal, Mrs. Fields:
I am so excited to continue serving as the principal of Lakeview Elementary for another year! Lakeview holds a very special place in my heart. Before becoming principal, I served as assistant principal here, and my own two boys, Aden and Samuel, attended Lakeview. I have experienced this school both as a parent and as a school leader, and I know firsthand what makes this community so special.
One of my greatest joys is seeing students learn, grow, and create memories each day. I am incredibly proud to lead such a caring and dedicated staff and feel fortunate to be part of a school community that truly feels like family.
Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, watching my boys pursue their interests, and spending time with our sweet dog, Ellie Mae.

🚗 Arrival & Dismissal: Keeping Students Safe
Arrival and dismissal are some of our busiest times of the school day. Thank you for partnering with us to create a safe, smooth, and predictable start and end to each day.
Beginning on Page 5 of the Student Orientation Guide, you will find detailed arrival and dismissal procedures. Please review these expectations and refer to the map below for a visual overview of traffic flow and designated areas for bus riders, car riders, and walkers.
Students will also review these procedures during our beginning-of-year CORE lessons, where we teach and reinforce schoolwide routines, expectations, and safety procedures. We encourage families to review these expectations with their child before the first day of school.
🚍 Bus Riders
Transportation changes must be communicated to the school office by 3:30 p.m. to allow time for staff to notify your child’s teacher and ensure a safe dismissal.
Students should remain seated, follow the bus driver's directions, and keep hands, feet, and belongings safely inside the bus.
🚗 Car Riders
To help our car rider line move safely and efficiently:
Parents/guardians should remain in their vehicles during arrival and dismissal.
Please practice with your child entering and exiting the vehicle and buckling/unbuckling independently when appropriate.
If you need to assist your child, please pull forward past the crosswalk or into a parking space so the line can continue moving. If you need assistance, a dismissal staff member will be happy to help.
For safety and consistency, walk-ups are not permitted. All car riders must be picked up through the designated car rider line.
Dismissal changes must be communicated to the office by 3:30 p.m. Calling the office is the best way to ensure your message is received, as teachers may not always be able to check messages during the school day.
Please display your assigned car rider tag visibly through your windshield during dismissal. If a car tag is not available, a positive ID will be required before your child can be released.

🚶 Walkers
Morning Arrival
Students walking to school should be escorted by an adult onto school property and brought to the nearest crosswalk.
Please note that a staff member will not be stationed at the property line to receive walkers during morning arrival.
Afternoon Dismissal
Staff will escort student walkers across the parking lot to the designated area near the car rider location, where students may safely continue home.
We recommend students under the age of 8 have an adult waiting to walk home with them.
Due to our rural location, walking paths are not available, and crossing traffic can be challenging for students. Families should carefully consider their child’s age, independence, and safety when deciding if walking to and from school is appropriate.
🎒 First Day Specific Arrival Information
The first day of school is an exciting milestone! To help the morning run smoothly and ensure a safe, successful start for all students, please review the first-day arrival procedures below.
Preschool & PreK
Families are welcome to sign in and walk their child to class on the first day of school only. Please enter through Door 6. After your child is settled with their teacher, we ask that families allow students to begin their school day with their classmates.
Kindergarten
Families are welcome and encouraged to sign in and walk their child to class on the first day of school only. Please enter through the main entrance and sign in at the office. Escort your child to their classroom to put their things away.
📱 More specific arrival information (first day only) will be shared by your child’s teacher through ParentSquare on Tuesday, August 4.
For planning purposes, families joining their child for first-day arrival should plan to spend no more than 30 minutes at school so students can begin settling into their new routines and classroom environment.
Grades 1–6
Students should arrive using their typical arrival method (bus, car rider, or other approved transportation). To help students begin building independence and settling into classroom routines, families will not be able to walk students to class. Our staff will be ready to welcome students, answer questions, and help students get where they need to go.

Each Friday, you will receive a school newsletter from me through ParentSquare with important updates, reminders, and upcoming events.
During especially busy weeks, I may send a brief midweek check-in with additional reminders or information as needed.
🧡Classroom Questions or Concerns
For questions or concerns related to your child’s classroom experience, your child’s classroom teacher is the best first point of contact.
Teachers know your child’s daily routines, learning experiences, and classroom environment best. Beginning with the teacher allows questions to be addressed quickly, encourages open communication, and helps build a strong partnership between home and school.
I am always happy to support families and help facilitate conversations when needed. My goal is to work alongside our teachers and families to ensure every student feels supported and successful.

📅 Attendance Matters
Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in student success. When students are at school consistently, they have more opportunities to learn, build relationships, and fully participate in classroom experiences.
At Lakeview, we believe every day matters! Each week, we celebrate classrooms with 98% or higher attendance by recognizing their commitment to showing up, learning, and growing together.
We understand that students may occasionally need to miss school due to illness or other circumstances. Our goal is to partner with families to support strong attendance and ensure students have every opportunity to grow and succeed.
Indiana has updated attendance expectations through Senate Enrolled Act (SEA) 482 to support improved attendance and academic outcomes. Families should be aware of the following expectations:
Families should notify the school whenever their child will be absent. Absences can be reported through the attendance line or ParentSquare.
After 5 unexcused absences within a 10-week period, the school is required to meet with the family to create an attendance improvement plan.
After 10 unexcused absences, schools are required to report attendance concerns according to Indiana law.
Additional information about Indiana attendance requirements can be found on the Indiana Department of Education website.
Please remember, students should stay home when they are ill and unable to safely participate in the school day. In general, students should remain home for symptoms such as fever, vomiting, or diarrhea until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours without medication.
📱 Personal Devices
Indiana’s personal device law has changed regarding student access to devices during the school day. Please review the linked family communication for additional details.

🎉 The Big Reveal Is Coming: Class Lists!
A new school year means new classrooms, new friends, and exciting new adventures!
This year, class lists will not be posted on the main entrance doors like in years past. Instead, your child’s teacher will personally welcome your family by sending a message through ParentSquare on Tuesday, August 4, at 11:00 a.m.

Join us at Lakeview from 3:00-4:00 pm on Tuesday August 4th. You will get the opportunity to meet your teacher, as well as tour the school. 💙 Help Continue Lakeview Traditions: Join PTO!
Lakeview is built on tradition, community, and the amazing experiences our students enjoy each year. Many of these special events are made possible because of the time, ideas, and support provided by our PTO and families.
We know families are busier than ever, so this year PTO is creating more opportunities for families to participate by offering meetings later in the evening.
Our first PTO meeting will be Wednesday, August 12, from 6:00–7:00 p.m. During this meeting, we will discuss upcoming events, review volunteer needs and responsibilities, and share ways families can get involved. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what each event involves before deciding where you would like to help.
Whether you can volunteer your time, share ideas, or simply learn more about PTO, we would love to have you join us. Together, we can continue the traditions that make Lakeview such a special place for our students and families.
